A Vision for Young Londoners is a vision statement that involves a cross-sector alliance of over 80 organisations, setting out a unified strategy and set of values to help deliver a brighter future for London’s young people.
In a context of an emerging London economy and evolving political landscape locally and across the capital, there is a need and an opportunity for all agencies working with and for young people to have a shared vision for what a London that is great for all young people can and should look like. And, most importantly, how we can get there together.
To support this ambition, we have developed a cross-sector alliance with representation from London Funders, London Councils, local authorities, youth work practitioners, formal education providers, arts and sports organisations, the wider voluntary sector and housing providers, which has cumulated in this vision. We see this work as part of an ongoing dialogue across providers and policy makers which will evolve and develop over time as momentum builds.
The Vision for Young Londoners was conceived in 2015 by Partnership for Young London, London Youth, and London Funders. It aims to unite the youth sector under a common agenda to deliver a better future for London’s young people.

Councillors who support the Vision
In January 2015, we brought together for the first time a diverse range of voices drawn from over 40 organisations to debate and develop a vision statement, as a starting point to getting clarity and a shared approach. From formal and informal education, London local and regional government, funders, providers of arts and sports opportunities, everyone recognised the value in us working together to offer support, challenge and enhance provision.
We deliberately didn’t set out to make it a young people’s vision – it is driven first and foremost by those of us who work with or support those who work with young people, in a huge range of settings, every day. We don’t at all pretend to be completely representative of everyone working with young people – which is why we want organisations to share this document, comment on it and seek feedback.
We are also asking groups to share it with young people, because it is absolutely vital that young people should see something positive for them in this vision No-one pretends it will be easy – but in Vision for Young Londoner’s, we have a good start, and with further input we can have something that people can genuinely sign up to and make a reality. Please do contact any of our organisations if you have comments or questions. We’ll be spending some months consulting and finessing, then bringing people together again after the summer.
